Profiles and Sharing
OmniLux separates local server access from account-linked household features. Begin with the people who use the server on your home network, then add account-linked sharing only when an approved release makes it available.
Private beta: local server users
An approved browser release can provide local users with separate sign-in, preferences, playback progress, and roles on the self-hosted server.
Available roles

The exact controls shown in a beta release are named in that release's guidance. Local accounts remain on the self-hosted server.
Personal history and preferences
When enabled by the approved release, each local user can keep their own:
- playback progress and Continue Watching position;
- preferred audio and subtitle language;
- playback quality preference; and
- light or dark appearance.
Private beta: account-linked sharing
Household invitations may be available after local playback when a release notice explicitly includes them. Linking an account is not required for direct local browser use.
Use an account-linked invitation only when you want the invited person to use an account-based flow supported by that release. Do not treat the presence of an invitation screen as proof that a native app is available.
Planned: shared-device and native-app experiences
These experiences are planned, not part of the general private-beta promise:
- TV or big-screen PIN pairing
- Native phone and TV sign-in
- A shared-device profile chooser
- Cross-device handoff between browser, phone, and TV apps
Their eventual design will build on the same profiles and permissions without changing who owns the self-hosted library.

- A generally available TV pairing flow
- A generally available native mobile or TV client
- A promise that every account-linked feature works on every device
